Description

The RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) TEST

The Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test uses state-of-the-art technology to measure the number of calories your body needs at rest to survive. This type of metabolic testing will outline your Total Energy Expenditure (TEE) and provide a guideline on the amount of calories needed daily to maintain weight, lose weight or gain weight. Metabolic testing is a type of health assessment that measures how your body converts food (calories) into energy. It evaluates your metabolism, specifically, how efficiently your body uses oxygen and burns calories at rest or during activity (referred to as VO2 Max / AMR test).

THE VO2 MAX / AMR (Active Metabolic Rate) TEST

The VO2 MAX Active Metabolic Rate Test will determine aerobic capacity and the maximal oxygen your body can consume during exercise on a bike or treadmill. The results of this type of metabolic testing will help you establish optimal heart rate (HR) zones for exercise and caloric burn. Metabolic testing is a type of health assessment that measures how your body converts food (calories) into energy. It evaluates your metabolism, specifically, how efficiently your body uses oxygen and burns calories during activity or at rest (referred to as RMR test).

Everything You Need To Know Before Your Assessment

      What is a DEXA scan?

A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) is a quick, non-invasive body composition scan that measures body fat, muscle mass, bone density, and visceral fat with exceptional precision. It gives you a complete picture of your health beyond what a scale or BMI can show.

How long does the appointment take?

Most appointments take around 20–30 minutes from start to finish, with the scan itself typically completed in about 10–15 minutes. It’s fast, comfortable, and requires no downtime afterward.

      Is the scan safe?

Yes. DEXA scans use extremely low-dose X-ray technology and are considered very safe for routine body composition tracking. The radiation exposure is minimal — lower than many common medical imaging procedures. However, pregnant individuals should avoid DEXA scans as a precaution.

What will I learn from my results?

Your results provide detailed insights into your body composition, including body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, visceral fat, bone density, and fat distribution across different areas of the body. This helps you make smarter decisions around fitness, nutrition, performance, and long-term health.

      How accurate is DEXA testing?

DEXA is widely regarded as the gold standard for body composition analysis because it directly measures fat, lean tissue, and bone mass with a high level of precision. It’s significantly more accurate than BMI, handheld devices, or skinfold calipers.

Do I need to prepare before my appointment?

For the most accurate results, stay well hydrated, avoid heavy meals a few hours before your scan, and wear lightweight clothing without metal zippers or accessories. It’s also recommended to avoid calcium supplements for 24 hours before your appointment.

How often should I get scanned?

Most people benefit from scanning every 8–12 weeks when actively tracking fitness, fat loss, muscle gain, or health improvements. Your ideal frequency depends on your goals, lifestyle, and how closely you want to monitor progress over time.

Is DEXASCAN only for athletes or fitness enthusiasts?

Not at all. While athletes use DEXA scans for performance tracking, they’re equally valuable for anyone looking to improve overall health, manage weight, monitor aging, or better understand their body composition and bone health.

      What makes DEXASCAN different?

DEXASCAN delivers clinical-grade precision with detailed reporting that goes far beyond traditional body fat measurements. Instead of estimates, you get science-backed insights into fat distribution, muscle balance, visceral fat, and bone health — helping you track meaningful progress with confidence.

Can I track my progress over time?

Absolutely. One of the biggest advantages of DEXA testing is the ability to compare scans over time and clearly see changes in muscle mass, body fat, visceral fat, and bone density. This allows you to measure real progress and adjust your fitness or health strategy based on accurate data.
